About Katrien

Katrien Perquy (°1969 – Bruges) studied Textile Art at Sint-Lucas in Ghent. She taught at the Academy of Kortrijk and at the Fashion & Textile department of Hogeschool Gent. She designed costumes for various theatre productions, and participated in numerous projects.
Katrien is a textile artist and teacher. Her specialisations are felt, eco-dyeing and printing in combination with other textile techniques such as lace.

Deep connection with, respect for and meaning in nature is a common thread throughout her work, both thematically and in the choice of materials.

She has been a teacher for many years with great enthusiasm. Both in her own studio and in the various courses in which she has taught over the years, she enjoys passing on knowledge and inspiration. She feeds this inspiration by fathoming the many technical possibilities of the material and passing on this knowledge, as well as by stimulating artistic processing and feeling.

Katrien currently works in part-time art education at the Academy of Bruges, where she teaches both children and adults.

Since 2008, her textile studio Ailim has been the place where works are created and workshops take place. Katrien also exhibits frequently and is often at work at events.
